Federal Labour Minister Bärbel Bas met with Denys Uliutin, Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, for bilateral talks. They signed a Joint Declaration of Intent to extend the institutional partnership between their ministries.

Federal Labour Minister Bärbel Bas took part in the German-Ukrainian intergovernmental consultations in Berlin on 14 April. Led by Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the consultations underscored the close ties between the two governments by agreeing on a strategic partnership. In all areas of bilateral relations, the representatives of Germany's Federal Government assured their Ukrainian counterparts of their full solidarity and support.

Minister Bas met with Denys Uliutin, Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, for bilateral talks and they signed a Joint Declaration of Intent to extend the institutional partnership between their ministries, which has been running successfully for two years. The focus of the exchange is on the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and pension reform. In addition, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs also has an institutional partnership with Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture.

Minister Bärbel Bas emphasised the importance of cooperation:

Through our institutional partnerships, we are supporting Ukraine with technical expertise on labour market and social policy reforms. Robust job opportunities and a reliable social security system form the bedrock of a resilient Ukraine. Its future belongs in the European Union. My ministry and I stand ready to support Ukraine: today, throughout recovery, and on its path to EU membership.
