On 18 July 2025, State Secretary Lilian Tschan welcomed the Tajik Minister of Labour, Migration and Employment, Soleha Kholmahmadzoda, to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, where they exchanged views.

Minister Kholmahmadzoda emphasised the potential of skilled workers from Tajikistan. State Secretary Tschan highlighted the great importance of the new Skilled Immigration Act, which has been fully in force since 2024, further expanding the legal framework for labour migration from non-EU countries.

The bilateral talks were followed by an exchange at working level about vocational education and training in Germany. The discussion focussed on how current challenges, such as sustainability, can be integrated into vocational education and training in Germany. The role of artificial intelligence and the targeted promotion of digital skills in vocational education and training were also discussed.

In addition to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the German Office for International Cooperation in Vocational Education and Training (GOVET), which is part of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) in Bonn, was also involved in the exchange between experts.
