Federal Minister Bärbel Bas took part in the virtual meeting of the G7 Labour and Employment Ministers

The video conference, which brought together participants from several countries, focused on inclusion, securing skilled labour and the use of AI.

The G7 ministers of labour participate in the virtual G7 meeting in front of the screen – good exchange and understanding are also possible digitally.

On 3 December 2025, Federal Labour Minister Bas took part in the virtual meeting of the G7 Labour and Employment Ministers, which was held under the Canadian presidency. The main focus was preparing young people for the jobs of tomorrow. The ministers discussed ways to secure the supply of skilled workers, improve participation opportunities for people with disabilities, and increase young people's participation in the labour market. The use of AI in the world of work was another key topic of discussion.

The global demographic and technological transformation recognises no borders. As leading industrial nations united by shared values, the G7 must work together to ensure this transformation is handled in a coordinated, socially responsible manner.

The meeting took place on International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The ministers therefore addressed the question of how to successfully integrate more people with disabilities into the labour market.

Bärbel Bas emphasised the importance of the G7 discussing how young people with disabilities could be supported in joining the workforce on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

In addition to the G7 Labour and Employment Ministers, a Vice-President of the European Commission, the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), high-ranking representatives of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the social partners also took part.

The G7 Labour and Employment Ministers issued  a joint communiqué with the results of the meeting. France will take over the presidency of the G7 next year.
