Parliamentary State Secretary Anette Kramme travelled to Chisinau for consultations at the invitation of the Moldova's Minister of Labour Alexei Buzu at the beginning of September. The aim of the visit was to learn about the EU candidate country's extensive reform process in the field of labour and social affairs and to identify initial steps for cooperation on issues, particularly regarding alignment with the EU acquis.

The Moldovan ministry is currently placing a strong focus on tackling the informal economy. Anette Kramme offered the Moldovan side cooperation in the form of an exchange of ideas with German experts in the field. Kramme also pledged to meet Chisinau's request for technical support in implementing relevant EU legislation to the greatest extent possible.

She also met with social partners at a round table event organized by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation to discuss the state of labour market policy and social partner dialogue. The State Secretary was also briefed by Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian on the current situation in the breakaway region of Transnistria.
