Dialogue with Swedish Members of Parliament on Labour Market Policy

BMAS

State Secretary Dr. Rolf Schmachtenberg met members of the Swedish Committee on the Labour Market together with Sweden's ambassador to Germany.

On 5 September 2024, State Secretary Dr. Rolf Schmachtenberg met members of the Committee on the Labour Market of the Swedish Parliament and Sweden’s ambassador to Germany, Veronika Wand-Danielsson, at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

The talks focused on the participation of persons with disabilities in the labour market, good working conditions in the platform economy and the fight against human trafficking, labour exploitation and forced labour. State Secretary Dr. Rolf Schmachtenberg noted:

Sweden is an excellent dialogue partner for Germany. We are united by common goals but also by common challenges.  ome of our strategies differ, including for the integration of persons with disabilities in the labour market. This gives us the opportunity to learn from one another.

Germany and Sweden have been close partners for many years. This was not the first visit of members of the Swedish Committee on the Labour Market to Germany to gain insights into German labour market policy. The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs works together closely with the Kingdom of Sweden and actively pursues an exchange of information on employment and social policies with its Nordic partners.
