The Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Oleksandr Kostiuchenko, together with Nermin Fazlic, Head of the Policy Directorate-General at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
As part of a study visit concerning continuing vocational education and training, a Ukrainian delegation headed by Oleksandr Kostiuchenko, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, visited the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) in Berlin on 20 March 2023.
In his welcoming remarks, Nermin Fazlic, Head of the Policy Directorate-General and currently representing State Secretary Lilian Tschan, said: Our exchange today on continuing vocational education and training aims at supporting Ukraine in mitigating the impact of the war on the Ukrainian labour market and thus the Ukrainian economy. In addition to the skills needed to rebuild after war, effective labour market policies are needed to support those unable to return to the jobs they once held.
Deputy Minister Kostiuchenko, accompanied by representatives from the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, the State Employment Service and the National Qualification Agency, received an overview of continuing vocational education and training in Germany. The discussion also focused on explaining the German skills strategy to the Ukrainian delegation, addressing in particular the possibilities for supporting employees and the unemployed. Finally, the participants discussed how this could be transferred to the Ukrainian system.
