On 7 April 2022, State Secretary Dr Rolf Schmachtenberg welcomed Armando Varricchio, Italy’s Ambassador to Berlin, to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs for talks.
There was an in-depth exchange of views on Italian-German cooperation, not only on the bilateral level, but also within the framework of the European Union and the G7. State Secretary Schmachtenberg and Ambassador Varrichio were in agreement that Germany and Italy wanted to cooperate more closely, especially in the fields of active labour market policy and mobility for work. Ambassador Varricchio also expressed his thanks to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs for hosting the Labour and Employment Ministerial Meeting on 24 May in Wolfsburg as part of Germany’s G7 presidency in 2022, saying that the setting of priorities for Germany’s G7 presidency involved in this sent an important message.
