State Secretary Albrecht meets with MEP Morin-Chartier

State Secretary Thorben Albrecht met with Member of the European Parliament Elisabeth Morin-Chartier of France for talks on 22 November 2017. The focus of the talks was the European Posted Workers Directive, which is currently being discussed in Brussels.

On 8 March 2016, the European Commission presented a proposal for a Directive amending the Posting of Workers Directive. On 23 October this year, the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council configuration reached an agreement on its position (general approach). The European Parliament had previously published a report outlining its ideas for the Directive’s revision. Ms Morin-Chartier is one of the Parliament’s two rapporteurs on this dossier.

On the basis of their respective positions, the Council, the Parliament and the Commission have started trilogue discussions to reach agreement on a common text. State Secretary Albrecht and Ms Morin-Chartier exchanged views on their respective perspectives and positions.
