Exchange of ideas with Greece on integrating young refugees

State Secretary Thorben Albrecht (photo, 4th from left) welcomed a delegation consisting of members of the Greek Parliament and representatives of Greek institutions (in particular ministries) for talks on 28 March 2017. The talks focused on the integration of children and adolescent refugees into school education and vocational training.

The visit took place within the context of the guest programme of the Federal Government. Like Germany, Greece faces the challenge of integrating into society a large number of refugees that have been admitted into their countries. The talks were an occasion for the mutual exchange of experience and the presentation of good practice examples. State Secretary Albrecht made it clear that from a German perspective, training and work are the best keys to successful integration. For this purpose, Germany has created a number of mutually complementary measures in the area of integration policies from different fields of action.
