Increasing globalisation of industry and advances in the use of new technologies cause new challenges for society. Our working environment is also undergoing change. These changes result not only in new vocations, but also in a demand for intelligent working hours models with which a modern balance can be created between social requirements and societal as well as operational necessities.

One way of adapting to changing conditions is part-time work in its diverse manifestations. The varied working time models such as personal daily and weekly working hours, sabbaticals and gradual transition to retirement are flexible forms of work organisation.
