The State Secretary made the following statement at the beginning of the meeting:
We must remain in dialogue and find concrete answers in order to be able to meet the current global challenges. Only so can we fight inequalities together world-wide and create the foundations for a fair, socially responsible world of work. In the framework of the G20, we have already done good preliminary work. During the German G20 presidency, we want to continue this and keep working on our goals.
The G20 delegates welcomed the programme of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs for the German G20 presidency, which contains the following key issues: female labour force participation, labour market integration of migrants and refugees, sustainable supply chains, the future of work and the cross-cutting topics of youth employment and social dialogue. The focus of the three-day-long conference was on the topics of female labour force participation and the labour market integration of migrants and refugees. The delegates agreed on a framework for improving the quality of women's employment. This includes progress on previously made commitments of the G20 on, for example, decreasing the gap between men and women in labour force participation. In addition, they discussed the success factors for a fair and effective integration of migrants and refugees presented by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and welcomed these in principle.
Visits to various companies showed the delegates practical examples of the integration of refugees in vocational training programmes and Germany's dual vocational training system. In the context of a discussion round with representatives from the labour and management associations of the social partners, the Federal Employment Agency and from companies, they expanded the exchange of ideas on labour market integration of migrants and refugees in Germany.
The next meeting of the working group will take place in February 2017. Then the topics of global supply chains and the future of the work will be on the agenda.
