TheFederal Labour Minister, Ursula von der Leyen, on thelabour market figures for November 2011:

“The labour market is still looking stableand receptive in November. There are no signs of a reversal on the domestic front. On the contrary, company order books are full. Products from Germany are in demand all over the world, despite the euro crisis and the gloomy economic outlook. Business and consumer research anticipate a good Christmas trade. The marked rise in the job index of the Federal Employment Agency, BA X, and the added vacancies in November show that demand for labour is still keen. What concerns me is that enterprises presently take 14 days longer on average to fill vacancies than they did even a year ago. Without sufficiently qualified personnel, the economic engine will stall. That is why the Federal Government has accorded top priority to securing the supply of skilled labour.”
