In today's increasingly globalised world, these efforts contribute to the establishment of uniform social standards and employee rights and at the same time help Germany hold its own in the global marketplace.
At European level, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) is involved in shaping a socially-responsible European Union that is a good place to live through its participation in the European Social Fund, the European Globalisation Fund and the Progress programme.
Going beyond Europe's borders, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) works in international organisations such as the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the United Nations (UN) on the development of an International Social and Employment Policy, the promotion of international labour and social standards, and the adoption of bilateral and multilateral social security agreements.
