How did people use to live and work?

Exhibition on the history of social security in Germany

How did people use to live and work? What were the challenges facing the welfare state during the industrial revolution? And what challenges does it face today?

The interactive exhibition With the Future in Mind, which is on show at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in Berlin, takes visitors on a journey through time - specifically, a journey through the history of the welfare state, from the adoption of the country's first social welfare legislation through to the present day. Interactive modules provide an insight into the rapid changes in the worlds of life and work. The "sound shower" demonstrates how technology has transformed our acoustic environment over the course of the last few centuries.

The exhibition at BMAS, Wilhelmstrasse 49, is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. Admission is free.
